Setting up Netscape Navigator

This section will show you how to configure yourself as a user for Netscape, using your themail connection. It will also show you how to make themail portal web site your home page, as well as how to change your mail servers to themail's servers, if they are currently pointing at another ISP's mail servers.

This page assumes that you have installed, or know how to install and use your browser. If you don't the Help files that are part of the package.

  1. Setting yourself as a User in Netscape.
    • If you are using Navigator for the first time the new user wizard will start automatically. Otherwise the new user wizard can be selected from Start->Programs->Netscape Communicator Professional edition->Utilities->User Profile Manager. You will only need to take this second option if you are setting up an addiional user for your software.
    • The New User Wizard
      1. Enter Your Name and Email Address, i.e. "John Smith" & jsmith@themail.co.uk

      2. The given settings for the next screen can usually be kept

      3. The Outgoing Mail Server is post.themail.co.uk

      4. The Incoming Mail Server is post.themail.co.uk. This is a POP3 server

      5. The final screen can be left with the given values. Just click Finish

      Netscape Navigator is now configured for use with themail. To suft the internet first establish a connection with your themail dial-up networking connection and then run Navigator

  2. Setting themail portal site as your home page
    • Start up Netscape Navigator. In the Home Page Location box type http://www.themail.co.uk.
    • From the Edit menu select Preferences

    • In the left hand column, double click on Navigator. Select Home Page for the page Navigator starts with and then click the Use Current button in the home page section. Then click OK

      Now when you start Netscape Navigator, our portal site will be your home page.

  3. Changing Your Mail Servers

    • From the Edit menu select Preferences
    • Double Click on Mail and Groups and then select Mail Server

      The Mail Server User Name is your new themail email address, username@themail.co.uk The name of the outgoing and incoming mail servers are post.themail.co.uk
