Email problems
Some customers are still having trouble getting their email. Here are some
things to do that can help you:
First make sure you havent fallen foul of the three month rule - mail boxes are closed after three months without use. You need to connect at least once every three months. If so dont panic - we can probably reinstate your mail box just be telling us your user name and password. Old mail will have been dumped unfortunately. See bottom of page for contact details:
If you are getting an error message about server 195.248.96.41? see 3 below
-
Open Outlook Express or your mail reader
Tools
Accounts
Click on themail dialup account (usually default)
Click properties
Click server tab at top of page
Check that your settings in the servers section are as follows:
Incoming mail server: post.themail.co.uk
Outgoing mail server: smtp.themail.co.uk
Account name: your full email address you use to collect mail
This means the full emailaddress such as johnsmith@themail.co.uk
Make sure that the only other box on this page with a tick in is the "save password" box
If any other boxes have ticks in then untick them by clicking on them
Now click the APPLY button at the bottom of the page
Close down the mail reader and start your computer again.
If you are not using Outlook Express then there are three settings that must be set
They are: incoming mail server - post.themail.co.uk
outgoing mail server - smtp.themail.co.uk
account name - your full email address including the @ sign
All in lower case type ,
If you still cannot connect:
-
Go to My Computer
Dialup Networking
Right click on Themail entry
Click Server Type tab at the top
Check that only one box has a check mark (TCPIP)
If other boxes have check mark then remove them
TCPIP settings button
Click "server assigned name servers address"
Click OK
Reboot your PC
Close
Reboot your computer for the settings to take effect
